1.) the new LMU libraryit's gorgeous. right on the bluff. and free to the people! fireplaces in every lounge. AND ATLASES!!!!! I am currently writing from the faculty lounge that I'm pretty sure we're not supposed to be in, but has the most divine vistas. This has to be the perfect afternoon date with one near and dear to you. Heavily advised.
2) LIGHTS & FIRESWhile perusing the World Atlas (which I recommend to just about anyone!) I found a Light Map showing the light from satellite photos of the world. Obviously New York is brighter than North Korea.

A Korea-American businessman who visited the city of Kaesong recently was shocked to learn it had had no electricity for 10 days. The only electric lights shining at night in Kaesong those illuminating monuments to the late "Great Leader" Kim Il Sung. Many city have electricity at certain times of the day. Foreign reporters who visited Shinuiju last month, for the unveiling of a plan to turn it into a free economic zone designed to lure investors, were struck by the contrast with the neighboring Chinese city of Dandong. Dandong at night is a blaze of lights; across the river, Shinuiju is in near-total darkness. Apartment blocks in Pyongyang are lit at night these days, but there are few lights outdoors — except, of course, those illuminating the gigantic statue of the "Great Leader."Japan brighter than India despite their very divergent populations. The white lights are electricty. The yellow are natural gas lights. The blue is marine lights. BUT THE INTRIGUE TRULY STARTS HERE. The orange lights (seen across Africa & Northern Australia) represent FIRE lights. Does this include campfires...doubtfully seen from a satellite. Forest fires? If so, really all across Africa is burning? I'm not totally sure about it all but I am hot on the pursuit of answers. Updates to follow.
3) homemade stufffor example, take this 2 liter bottle lounger. i think i could make this. would it be comfortable or sanitary (expecting i would steal bottles from recycling or have to drink my weight in Dr. Pepper-yes please)....i think not. probably never gonna happen but I applaud the idea.
this i think i might get into...it's a plastic silverware chandelier. i'm interested.
for sure my next apartment will be sporting a yellow pages homemade coffee table. 2 pieces of tasty mohagany & a bunch of antiquated resource books. winner.
