REIGN: Boybands Are Back!

A very good friend Bryan McGowan (in the gold hoodie) is a part of a multicultural boyband REIGN. We went out to support their very first show at the Avalon in Hollywood Friday night and were absolutely blown away.

Boybands ARE Back and I know they are here to stay.

This was seriously one of the most enjoyable performances I've ever seen. High quality video of their performance is coming out and I think they have a TV show on the way as well, but for now enjoy these youtubes.

Womanhood Wednesdays Deux

Wow, special thanks and honor to Laura August-Schmidt for her craft night virgin voyage. What a spectacular show with her hallows eve bag (see pictured below). Honorable mention goes to America...which is this weeks collage theme and potential Wed October 14th Womanhood Wednesday Craft Mafia night..

FOUND FRIDAY

This Week's Found Poetry is brought to you by the letter P.

Guest poet Anja Geary delights us with her found poem of her lasting memories of last weekend coupled with nuances of a Jeffersonian romp or two with a maidservant (my interpretation).

A DISCOVERY

As for mine, I thought a new medium would be in order so this story of a shy & strong girl comes from Los Angeles Magazine.

Getting To The Bottom

It was a day just like any other day....until Private McCollum & Agent Stoltz got on the scene.

What is one to do with a mystery in their own house!

SOLVE IT.

Rewind 1 week. B:Rad Holdgrafer stumbles upon a concerning To Do List. This is no ordinary To Do List. It's chock full & heavy laden with hobbies. Who that has stepped foot in this apartment has such vast interests (video games, Frisbee, tennis, swimming, and reading!) mixed with a penchant for detailed scheduling, and the audacity to leave it on our coffee table.

It was almost too much to bear for The Private and The Agent.

Time After Time-Lapse

The kind of thing I do when Bern's on the phone too long
and I got nothing else to do.

Sidewayz Smiles

Here's a little video footage I shot yesterday morning for Lana & Bern's big first days at work...sorta. And then I happened to stumble on a bunch more but that's for a later date.

Surprising

I am reading Captivating right now. It's the girl version of Wild At Heart. I was pretty skeptical of this book for a number of reasons. But there's some truths in here that I'm into. Here's one.

"We need not be ashamed that our hearts ache; that we need and thirst and hunger for much more. All of our hearts ache. All of our hearts are at some level unsatisifed and longing. It is our insatiable need for more that drives us to our God. What we need to see is that all our controlling and our hiding, all our indulging, actually serves to separate us from our hearts. We lose touch with those longing that make us women. And the substitutes never, ever resolve the deeper issues of the soul"

Lady Gaga

This is the most current funny youtube I have seen.

I can't stop laughing even just when I think about it.

Enjoy.

ANIMALS & VEGETABLES III

This week's Animals & Vegetables was initially inspired by Marian The Librarian with her illustration submission last week. Great work Marian.

FOUND FRIDAY

This week in FOUND FRIDAYS!

Guest Poet is Cousin Maggie, the preteen.

I was so overwhelmingly amazed with her poem. Half bred out of confusion. Half out of wit.

As for my poem, I decided to write one for BernMatthews.

What do you think?

OBVIOUS

TO THEN SEE HER WINTER

So You Had A Bad Day?

After a super fly fun photoshoot with Krochet Kids for their Winter 09 Line Katie Slack decided to spend the night, watch a great movie, and have some fun in the morning. We awoke to find a parking ticket on her car. A horrible way to start the day. I told her I'd make it up to her...take her to my most favorite spot in Culver City

....a semi-secret gallery that if you come visit LA I promise we will go...unless you are one of my readers from India, in that case we probably shouldn't go anywhere alone until we get to know each other first.

So she's got a ticket. I'm trying to lift her spirits. I'm on my cell phone driving. I make an illegal U turn over double yellow right in front of a cop. He pulls me over. I don't have my insurance card either.

2 tickets in one day. We are in disbelief.

I sweet talk the man into a $0 fix it ticket. We discuss family issues. The war. Meeting his wife. How I am a gypsy. How I have 6 expired insurance cards. The funny fact that I misspelled my address on my Driver's License. (See Fig 1) How I am an LMU Business School graduate. How I am his favorite person he has pulled over (and no, brad, i was not his first person to pull over I assure you). How I just wanted some tea and that's why I broke the law.

Fig 1

But I do have to appear before a judge to show him the card. I'm secretly excited because I've ever been pulled over and never been before a judge. I am going to try to slip in a Judge Reinhold Arrested Development reference to be sure.

So we are both feeling pretty poor, spirits are low, morale is down despite the fact I got out of it I just feel like a junky human being for making an amateur move such as this.

And we are arrive at the hot spot, and we hop right in to the Porta Party.

And everything is fixed in one song.

[In]Disposable Seconds

This is the first of many disposable camera sessions to be sure. This roll will take you on a hot air balloon adventure, into a music video shoot, to a street pigeon funeral, under LAX flight path,

When I was 10, I was ashamed of the clicking sound.

How things change.
